Extend a helping hand – whether you’re assisting with Pilau, transcribing historical letters, or guiding a field trip, the Thomasville History Center welcomes you to join as a volunteer.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers at the History Center can be a part of one of the oldest historical organizations in the State of Georgia. With a collection of over 500,000 items and a three-acre campus that contains eight historic structures (including the Lapham-Patterson House), we never run out of things for people to help with. Below are just some of the ways a volunteer can assist us in meeting our mission.

Lend a hand preparing mailings or catching up on administrative tasks at the History Center. Strong organizational and computer skills are preferred.

Help us to catalog our collection. Collections work requires advanced organizational skills, database familiarity, attention to detail, and a high level of computer literacy.

Become an Adventure Guide and help us with delivery of K-12 curriculum on our campus. Adventure Guides must complete a rigorous training program and background check.

Fundraising events at the History Center include many working parts. Join our team of event volunteers to help us prepare! Volunteer tasks include standing, carrying, and crafting.
